If your Mailissa Icon appears Grey you can fix this very easily by reactivating the Reading Pane.
You can enable the Reading Pane again via View > Reading Pane and choose Right or Bottom
If you don't want to have the Reading Pane active, you will need to open an email via double click to use Maiissa.
